New Blades 2013 (Best in Show)

The winner of the New Blades 2013 'Best Product Model' sponsored by Berry Place was Tom Le Gallez, who went on to also win 'Best in Show', as voted for by attending industry and public.
Tom, a recent graduate of model making at the Arts Institute at Bournemouth, conveyed his strong interest in motorcycles and mechanics by producing a flawless and intricate model of a motorbike, built completely from scratch, using various machines and processes before chroming and spraying.
Commenting on the outcome of the show, tom said "to be honest I was a bit overwhelmed to be awarded best in show, especially knowing the standard of work that was on display."
Visit http://cargocollective.com/tomlegallez to see more of Tom's outstanding work.
Once again, we were so impressed with the quality of work on show at New Blades 2013 and will be following up over the course of the next few weeks to invite candidates in to discuss freelance opportunities.

Working in conjunction with Chic London, Berry Place helped create the unique metal collector's box for Belvedere Vodka.

Berry Place worked on 248 'sets', housing the equivalent of 992 5cl mini-bottles of Belvedere Vodka. The clever design means the container doubles as an ice-bucket once the samples are removed.

The boxes were constructed out of tin and featured bespoke vacuum-metalised lids and ring-pulls, ready for digital printing and foil blocking by Chic London.

Berry Place Celebrates 23 Years!

This month marks the 23rd anniversary of Berry Place, and looking back through some of our early projects, it is clear we have experienced the industry change dramatically since Berry Place first opened for business. Rapid developments in technology, materials and processes have continually pushed us to adapt, but more notably the core enquires we receive, and where they have originated from has altered considerably.

Consumer brands vie more than ever to stand out from the competition in a currently volatile market, and the need for more spectacular campaigns to attract discerning customers has risen exponentially. In recent years we’ve found ourselves working with many more premium brands on high-impact visual merchandising campaigns, retail point-of-sale installations and unique packaging concepts. As such, Berry Place has seen a rise in the number of the more quirky and experiential projects.

“despite an economic climate which is affecting multiple businesses in the design and retail industries, we are busier than ever and it’s wonderful to see British manufacturing on the rise.” David Austen, Managing Director

As difficult as it is to predict, the future looks exciting. It is likely that technology will progress a lot faster over the next decade with digital - particularly location, mobile & social - interaction at the heart of retail installations and campaigns.

Having opened an additional Studio this year will enable us to undertake more of the larger Retail Design, Point-of-Sale and Visual Merchandising ventures, ensuring we can continue to accommodate the needs of whatever the immediate future brings.

Wild Geese Rum

Berry Place joined the team at Protégé International to support the launch of the highly anticipated, Premium Wild Geese Rum.

Protégé International Chairman André J Levy said "The Wild Geese Rum Collection tells the story preceding the Treaty of Limerick in 1691, after which resulted in the Flight of the Wild Geese. “The Irish are usually associated with Irish whiskey or Irish cream, but the impact of the Irish around the world is much greater than that. They have a huge community in the Caribbean – the Spanish Caribbean, the French Caribbean, even the British Caribbean, and of course Central and South America – all of these areas are very large rum-producing areas... We want to expand the story of The Wild Geese. We don’t want people to just see it within a narrow geographical perspective; we want to show the world that the story of The Wild Geese transcends not just different generations but also different geographical boundaries."

Berry Place transformed the two-dimensional design brief into three-dimensional data and built a one-of-one, cold-metal finished model, as featured on the bottle label & overall brand motif.

The 1/2 metre, stunning model, dubbed 'the Star of the Show', took 3 months to complete from start to finish and was displayed on a motorised turntable at the prestigious TFWA World Exhibition, held in Cannes in November 2012.

Sony Xperia™ Face Off

To launch the Sony Xperia™ T handset, Sony and creative agency, Iris commissioned an interactive experience, developed and realised by B-Reel, with the support of Berry Place. 'Players' share Facebook profile pictures between smartphones in the most exciting and entertaining way possible, through a real world, multiplayer game, winning B-Reel an FWA (Favourite Website Award).

The game allows players to control specially designed cars, each built by Berry Place to accommodate one Xperia™ T handset. Using One-touch sharing (aka Near Field Technology) and Facebook Connect, contestants could personalise each car with Facebook images and win exciting prizes by sharing their image with as many static handsets on the track as possible within the time limit.

Xperia Face Off delivered 193m Opportunities To See (OTS) and helped drive (excuse the pun) an unprecedented 97,000 unique visitors to the site.

This campaign was a live online event, a physical experience, a game and a product demo. It’s unique to Sony Xperia and perfectly aligned to its core values of imagination, magic and wonder.
