Rankin Cork Presentation Case

The exquisite Rankin cork presentation case, conceived by Ziggurat Brands and engineered by Berry Place, was designed to increase engagement of personal sales presentations, demonstrating Rankin’s variety of cork systems and packaging closure products.

Built upon a machined aluminium chassis, each custom foam-lined tray revolves open, revealing subsequent groups of cork components. These can then be combined into numerous assembled closures and presented on cork inlayed mounts on the top of the case for clients to explore in detail.

This is a truly unique bespoke item, tailored to convey the Rankin brand through use of sensitive materials and colour. The curiously shaped veneered pippy oak case is accented by custom blue-dyed debossed leather and cream stitching to the clasps and retractable handle, with the prominent Rankin logo engraved and infilled in blue enamel.

The entire unit is protected in its own custom made flight case for transporting to demonstrations around the world, which also accommodates Two 'leave-behind’ packs, each consisting of three complete corks.

House Heads

Berry Place designed and created three wearable model buildings, including a Commuter Belt Bolt Hole, an Urban Apartment Block and a Cross Rail Crash Pad, as part of an advertising campaign for PropertyPartner.co, a property crowdfunding platform.

The models, finished in just five days, were designed to fit comfortably on the actors’ heads and were built upon a modified cycle helmet. Foam-core and scale plastic sheeting for the bricks and tiles were used to keep the buildings as lightweight as possible.

One of the models featured interior lighting and another was rigged to have the guttering fall and re-set for repeat takes.

Model Making in Demand

New Blades, the graduate recruitment fair for the model making industry, draws final year students from the University of Hertfordshire, Arts University Bournemouth, University of Bolton, University for the Creative Arts and City of Glasgow College. It provides a great opportunity for graduates to showcase final year projects to industry, with the aim of securing work and placements across multiple facets of industry - including design, production, film, arts and advertising.
This year, according to Paul Johnson, principal lecturer & course leader at Arts University Bournemouth, graduates who exhibited at New Blades have all since found work, with many commencing employment the Monday immediately following the show. He went on to say "students [from the Arts University Bournemouth] were being offered jobs over the phone without interviews!"
Despite the fact that current technology, such as realistic digital rendering and 3D printing can potentially offer alternative solutions to physical models, David Austen, Managing Director at Berry Place commented “it’s safe to say model making is in demand”.
